BVLGARI SERPENTI 75 Years of Infinite Tale Exhibition
Tokyo (Japan)
To celebrate BVLGARI ‘s 75th anniversary of its brand icon, the SERPENTI, this year the brand has launched a series of creative collaborations with contemporary artists from around the world. Emmanuelle is one of the three artists selected for the collaborations for the Tokyo series. This new installation marks the 50th of the 100 colors installations series, creating an immersive space that seems to go on and on into the colors.
Visitors to this installation will experience the concept of "infinite colors," inspired by the allure of the SERPENTI, a symbol of eternity. The space is designed to evoke emotion by inviting visitors into an infinite world where colors seem to continue forever, following a long and narrow endless path.
Stepping into the narrow path, the infinite colors emerge, which are represented by Roman numerals from 1 to 100. This is a special motif chosen as a respect to the brand's roots in Rome. The installation is composed of 347,100 Roman numbers in 100 shades of colors, written on 100 large transparent acrylic panels, regularly aligned to a depth of approximately 16m. Acrylic panels have cut out in the middle, to allow visitors to walk inside the installation. The first layer writes the Roman numeral 1, the number of Roman numerals increases as visitors progress along the path, and the gradation of 100 colors changes together with the number. Roman numerals, consisting of five simple symbols (I, V, X, L, C), are aligned perfectly on a three-dimensional grid, creating an infinity of numbers.
An endless journey of color. The expression of the installation changes with each step, creating a complex fascination that transforms endlessly. Just as the colors continue to infinity, we hope that the future of BVLGARI will also continue endlessly.
100 colors no.50 “SERPENTI” is part of Emmanuelle’s "100 colors" installation series.

LANCÔME
The ART OF ABSOLUE
”PERPETUAL, BEYOND TIME”
Shanghai (China)
The “Art of Absolue” Exhibition under the theme of "Perpetual, Beyond Time", was held in Shanghai to showcase the "Absolue" collection of the world’s leading luxury beauty brand LANCÔME.
For this exhibition, Emmanuelle unveiled a new installation to express the philosophy of the brand and its collection. This immersive installation is an abstract representation of beauty and eternity. Inspired by the symbolic meaning of butterflies, the room is filled with butterflies in flight, made of a simplified form of specially designed butterflies that gather, dance, flap wings, and soar high into the sky.
The installation is composed of a colorful circular volume in the center of the room, encircled by a white circular layer, made of approximately 40,000 butterflies in total. When entering the room, people are enveloped by the membrane of white butterflies that forms a path around the colorful circular volume. Walking along the gently curving path, visitors are naturally led to the center of the room, and discover that they have entered inside the core of the colorful installation, an immersive world of butterflies in 100 colors that continues to soar up more than 10 meters high.
Stepping into this space will be an immersive and magical experience, full of emotions, sensations, a joyful and a meditative moment.
100 colors no.48 “100 colors butterflies” is part of Emmanuelle’s "100 colors" installation series.

Message from Emmanuelle:
"When I Saw the Earth for the First Time" - I imagined a picture book with a title like this. The colorful sphere represents the earth, the yellow sphere represents the sun, and the child holding the balloon is you, the main character. The diversity of living creatures that exist on this earth creates and drives the beauty of the earth. I expressed that through the universality and infinity of color. I hope that colors will move people's hearts.
About the PEACE FOR ALL project:

Lumière
Paris (France)
map
Lumière is the largest private office building in Paris, located in the 12th arrondissement, at the heart of the business district “Bercy”. The building has seven upper floors and is divided into two wings linked by a magnificent atrium. “TIMELINE” is a site-specific permanent artwork for this atrium in Lumière, which symbolizes the diversity of people and moments of life. This artwork is the first permanent artwork of the 100 colors series in France.
Inspired by the sky, the glass roof of the atrium, this permanent artwork is an abstract visualization of the beam of light passing through, like a ray of sunlight penetrating the building. The ray of light is colored in 100 colors, bringing life, joy, and emotion to the people that illuminates the space. The artwork is made up of 3200 numbers in total, expressing years from 2023 to skyward, continuing up endlessly. From the bottom, the years begin from 2023 and 2024, two years in one row, then the years are stacked up one by one towards the sky, reaching 18m in height. The present time, 2023, is expressed in white, then the future years are expressed in 100 colors. The gradation of 100 colors from the bottom emphasizes the flow of time.
All numbers face the lounge area, and the glass facade on the other side. The numbers are fixed to keep stillness and prevent from turning, so they appear like a real line of light, even when viewed from a distance.
“TIMELINE” shines a ray of light into people's daily lives, explores new relationships with others, and becomes part of the wonderful moments.
100 colors no.47 “TIMELINE” is part of Emmanuelle’s "100 colors" installation series.

Roppongi Art Night 2023
Roppongi Hills
Tokyo (Japan)
This new “100 colors” installation was commissioned to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the opening of Roppongi Hills, a famous building complex located in the heart of Tokyo’s Roppongi district. At the foot of the skyscraper Mori Tower, where people are busy coming and going, 100 colors layers create an installation that traces memories.
Composed of small numbers writing “years”, overlapping in 100 colors layers — the deeper the layer, the older the year — the artwork is an abstract representation of layers of “memory”.
The installation is composed of 201,552 numbers in 100 shades of colors and white, written on 51 large transparent acrylic panels, regularly aligned to a depth of 12,5 m.
The small numbers write the 20 years of time from the opening of Roppongi Hills in 2003, to the present year 2023. The front layer, expressing the present 2023, is represented in white, while the rest of 50 layers in 100 colors gradation expresses the flow of past time.
Perfectly aligned in three dimensional grids, numbers are written so that they overlap exactly on both sides of each layer, creating staggering overlapping effects. It is a flow of floating numbers and colors that build a complex depth and density, creating three-dimensional layers of colorful memory. Depending on the angle of view, the overlap between the numbers and the colors reflected in the eye changes, creating the sensation of entering into various layers of memory.
As part of Roppongi Art Night 2023, the installation is illuminated at night, creating a different atmosphere than during the day. May this colorful space of memory be where people gather, think, and remember precious memories.
100 colors no.43 “memory” is part of Emmanuelle’s "100 colors" installation series.

DOGO ART 2023
Dogo Onsen
Matsuyama (Japan)
As part of DOGO ART 2023 - an art festival showcasing the works of various artists to energize and add colors to Dogo Onsen, the oldest hot spring in Japan , Emmanuelle has created the symbolic art installation for the festival that set across the stretch of Dogo Shopping Street, which connects to the famous Dogo Onsen Main Building. The installation transformed the Dogo Shopping Street into a colorful and dynamic passage, where people walk under the lifelike 100 colors.
Approaching the entrance of the Dogo Shopping Street, a floating volume of 100 colors appears behind the famous Dogo signage. This floating volume of 3m cube is composed of masking tape made of traditional Japanese paper Washi, which is especially created for Emmanuelle’s unique 100 shades of colors. Each thin line is 15mm wide and perfectly placed next to each other, gently swaying in the wind. The essence of 100 colors is condensed at the entrance, like a gateway to a world of 100 colors to come.
Stepping into the Arcade, the ceiling is covered with floating 100 colors. The installation is composed of 20280 thin lines of masking tapes, formed by repetitive layers of curtain of colors, creating an immersive experience. It is also made of the same masking tape as the entrance floating volume, each thin line is 15mm wide and approximately 2m long. The colorful journey begins with a layer of white, and the color gradually changes layer by layer, forming a total of 101 layers which continues across the stretch of 150m. The colors capture light from the ceiling of the arcade, capture breezes and sway lively in the wind. The installation changes the expression depending on the weather of the day.
Walking under the dynamic 100 colors , the installation gives opportunities for people to enjoy and feel colors with their entire body.
100 colors no.42 / DOGO ART 2023 is part of Emmanuelle’s "100 colors" installation series.
About the "100 colors" series
"100 colors" is an installation series began in 2013, which forms space using 100 shades of colors. Emmanuelle wishes to give emotions through colors as she felt from seeing overflowing "colors" in Tokyo when she first visited in 1995. She also wishes to give opportunities for people to see, touch and feel colors with their senses to become more conscious of colors that exist around them.
In "100 colors", Colors are explored in various forms depending on the environment, to maximize the beauty of colors. 100 colors entering the body with a glance triggers a physical response to engage with the sensation of colors. The installation series will continue to travel around the world.
"When I first arrived in Tokyo,
I was fully fascinated by the colors overflowing on the street.
In that very moment, my mind decided to move to Japan. Overwhelming number of store signs, flying electrical cables, and flashes of blue sky framed by various volumes of buildings, created three dimensional 'layers' in the city.
The flood of various colors pervaded the street built up a complex depth and intensity in the space. These indelible experiences of colors and layers in Tokyo were the inspiration and essence of my design concept of shikiri, which means dividing (creating) space with colors.
Valuing the emotion inspired from Tokyo, in the 10th anniversary year of my studio, I want to show the beauty of colors to the fullest extent.
I also wish to share the feeling of being surrounded by overflowing colors by exhibiting 100 colors, here in the middle of Tokyo.
Please come and find your favorite color. "

NOW Gallery official text
Emmanuelle Moureaux has been seducing audiences with her colourful installations from Paris to Tokyo. The complexity and delightful aesthetic fills space with cut out coloured paper to create a world where the essence of every carefully considered colour can be appreciated. NOW Gallery, as part of its on-going Design Commission, selected Moureaux to present a large-scale installation in the UK for the first time. Inspired by the gallery’s location on the Greenwich Peninsula, near to the Meridian, marking time and composed of layers of numbers in 100 shades of colours and white, the installation expresses the flow of time. Each layer of numbers reflects the now, the past and the future, the exhibition will be a round representation of the earth floating in the gallery space. A moment, a slice of time. Creating dates to be acknowledged and a moment to think about ourselves in contemplation with the now.
The installation will offer its visitors the time to remember a significant date. Round paper will be available to write this chosen date on in coloured pen; and why it is important. This will be placed on the window of the gallery, along a timeline which will create a kaleidoscope of colour.
Jemima Burrill, Curator at NOW Gallery, said:
“The measured detail, and calm considered order of Moureaux’s work seemed the perfect respite from the political bedlam we are experiencing. This exhibition will include everyone, giving them the opportunity to have a moment to enjoy colour and form in all its simplicity and complexity. Both elements will work together to surprise and saturate, providing a moment to think about a date of significance within colourful order. A contemplative moment for all.”

Calpis 100th year anniversary

Installation:
”Universe of Words”
July 7th is the 100th year anniversary of the beloved Japanese drink Calpis. Coinciding with the Japanese star festival, Tanabata, Emmanuelle unveiled two installations, “Universe of Words” and “100 message bottles”, presented at the “Calpis 100th year anniversary, Let`s Meet at Tanabata” exhibition.
On Tanabata day, Japanese people write their hopes and dreams on colored pieces of paper and hang them on a bamboo branch in hopes that their wishes will come true. Emmanuelle reimagines this tradition by extracting the sense of Tanabata onto the floating words. She chose the simplest written alphabet children first learn “hiragana”, composed of 46 different characters. In Tanabata, hiragana are used to express the hopes and dreams. The universe created by these floating hiraganas evokes an emotion through its stillness and its endlessness. By condensing the essence of the word itself, it derives to the emotion. The swaying hiragana form and symbolize the wishful colored pieces of paper swaying from the bamboo branch.
The installation was composed of approximately 140,000 hiraganas, regularly aligned in three dimensional grids. Visitors could wonder inside the colorful space filled with hiraganas to share the sense of stillness. Sections of the installation were removed, creating paths that cut through the installation. Walking through the countless numbers of hiraganas, words gradually come to mind…As part of Emmanuelle’s "100 colors" installation series, the layers of hiraganas were colored in 100 shades of colors, creating a colorful Universe of Words. Within those characters, CALPIS bottles figures were lost and could be found along with the CALPIS logo, adding playfulness to the installation. One path led the visitors to the next installation room, “100 message bottles”.
“100 message bottles” installation was designed for visitors and their loved ones to find the one “message bottle” which best described their relationship. 100 “CALPIS” bottles specially designed in 100 shades of colors were associated to 100 words such as “friendship”, “longing”, “warmth”, each “message bottle” representing a color and a meaning of a special relationship. Once viewers found their “word”, they could take a photo in front of their message bottle to remember the moment. It is truly a special experience to remember.
NACT 10th anniversary

The National Art Center, Tokyo
The National Art Center, Tokyo has celebrated its 10th Anniversary in January. As a commemoration, it presented the museum activities of the past ten years in the Special Exhibition Gallery room, which was superimposed with a large installation "Forest of Numbers" - the symbolization of the next 10 years to come. Used without any partition walls for the first time, the 2000 square meter White Cube exhibition room became a canvas of the installation, filled with "100 colors", inspiration and emotion, which became the largest installation of Emmanuelle’s work.
The installation "Forest of Numbers" visualized the decade of the future from 2017 to 2026, created a sense of stillness across the large exhibition space. More than 60,000 pieces of suspended numeral figures from 0 to 9 were regularly aligned in three dimensional grids. A section was removed, created a path that cut through the installation, invited visitors to wonder inside the colorful forest filled with numbers. The installation was composed of 10 layers which is the representation of 10 years time. Each layer employed 4 digits to express the relevant year such as 2, 0, 1, and 7 for 2017, which were randomly positioned on the grids. As part of Emmanuelle’s "100 colors" installation series, the layers of time were colored in 100 shades of colors, created a colorful time travel through the forest.
Inside the colorful forest, two girls and one cat were lost inside, added playfulness to the installation. In concert with the installation, the compilation of exhibition posters from the last ten years filled the wall on the right, and the opposite wall across the room simply expressed the next ten years with white numbers. Because photography was exceptionally allowed, the installation has spread through various social networks, increasing number of visitors. This installation was created with the cooperation of 300 volunteers, excited the attention of over 20,000 visitors in 10 days.

Fukuoka (Japan)
concept : colorful grove
Creche Ropponmatsu is a kindergarten located in a residential area in Fukuoka city, accepting capacity of 90 children, age between 0 to 5 years old. Emmanuelle designed the architecture, interior space, logos and graphical signage, with a vision to open a new kindergarten where children can grow up freely in mind and body. Running behind the colorful grove, this kindergarten gives opportunity for children to raise rich sensibility by feeling many colors wherever they are.
Collections of colors jump into the eyes in one glace, as many colors are used in the facade and in the interior space.
On the facade, there are 22 colors used in 63 multi-colored trees of 4 m in height extend the branches rhythmically and wrap the building. While giving full-sized glass with a feeling of openness, by wrapping it with colorful trees, gives a sense of distance to the outside, and visually protects the children in gentle gesture.
In the nursery room, 200 colorful boxes in 25 colors are lined up on the wall, where each one of them belongs to every child to stock their personal goods. Every time children use their own tools or get changed, they find and pick up the box of their color.
The stairs that connect the 4 floors uses 18 colors, where children are surrounded by many colors as the colors of wall changes as they travel up and down the stairs.
The colorful trees are also incorporated in the logo of the kindergarten. The logo is also used on other areas such as Children’s uniforms and bus, to give a sense of unity.
Spending time in colorful environment helps to maximize the sensitivity of children and bring out the personality of each child. Surrounded by many colors, touching many colors, living with many colors – the kindergarten wishes to develop rich sensibilities and individuality of children. With this hope in mind, the colorful grove watches the growth of children every day.

Imabari City Auditorium
Japan
Imabari City in Ehime Prefecture is known for its quality towels and for its leading textile dyeing industry. For the “IMABARI Color Show” introducing the dyeing technology in Imabari City, Emmanuelle revealed an installation "1000 COLORS WAVE", using her own 1000 (one thousand) colors palette specially created for the exhibition. It is the second installation realized for the “IMABARI Color Show” after the 2017-2018 exhibitions in Spiral Garden and Imabari City.
Even though the same water, formula, and environment are utilized during the dyeing process, the slightest change in weather and/or temperature can completely disrupt the result of the pigmentation. However, in the skilled hands of the craftsmen of Imabari, the dye process is so precise, 1000 unique colors of fabrics are possible.
One thousand pieces of textile specially dyed in 1000 different colors covered the 1002 seats of the Imabari City Auditorium, designed by the famous architect Kenzo Tange. The bright colors palette gave off an energy that created an astounding wave of colors which engaged with the ceiling of the public hall.
"1000 COLORS WAVE" was created by the fusion of Emmanuelle's colors with high quality skills of Imabari's dyeing technicians. The technique of "dyeing" and the creation of "1000 colors", multiplied by the delicacy of both have became a grand installation.

concept : rainbow melody
The site is located on the corner of major intersection, where there is a frequent movement of cars, bicycles and people. Taking this unique location as a characteristic, the facade is designed to be rhythmical that changes expression as people see from different angles.
Colors appear in and out from the rhythmical repetition of cubes, dancing like musical notes playing rainbow melody. The facade is composed of cubes of four different depths. Small elevated gardens are built inside 12 cubes, where the seasonal changes in nature are expressed by seasonal flowers like marigold, lavender, and growing trees such as olive tree. Gardens can be seen from the open space on the first floor, and from the financing section and cafeteria on the second floor. Sunlight is filtered through the foliage of elevated gardens on the South facing facade, providing a harmonious and warm atmosphere inside the bank.
The colors, flowers and trees appear in and out from the repetition of floating cubes, playing rainbow melody. The melody spreads happiness and comfort to visitors and to the people in the local community.

Hankyu Department Store
Umeda Main Store (Osaka)
BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE 's pop-up event was held at Hankyu Department Store Umeda Main Store, where Emmanuelle created a space full of colors with a sense of joyful spring in the air.
Flowers of the trees are brightly blooming and floating - the concept is "blooming sky".
Small triangular papers are simply folded to form flowers, which are suspended from the top of seven trees lined up in the front of the rectangular space. Colors of flowers change gradually from white to yellow, pink, brown, green, blue, and purple, to create a gradation of 100 colors floating in space. Under the colorful volume of flowers, tote bags are placed in line with the colors of the flowers above. The falling petals are collected in the transparent acrylic stands, accentuating the color of tote bags.
In this pop-up event, visitors can choose the handle from 13 different colors to customize with the standard white prism series tote bag. It became a special week of finding favorite colors inside the space full of blossoming colors.

For the release of BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE's new tote bag "MISTY MOON", Emmanuelle has created window installation "rainbow moiré".
In order to respond to the unique sense of translucency of the new collection, small triangular pieces are finely cut out from a layer of paper to create delicate mesh of colorful lines. By increasing the number of layers and applying shades of colors, the subtle changes of colors gives three-dimensionality in design.
Depending on the viewing angle, the overlapping lines change its expression, and a beautiful rainbow-colored moiré is born.
The installation has spread in 11 stores in Japan and worldwide, including REALITY LAB. ISSEY MIYAKE in Aoyama (Tokyo) and ISSEY MIYAKE GINZA / OMOTE in Ginza (Tokyo). The graphical design and acrylic floor standing design were also developed beside the window installation.

NSK 100th anniversary
SENSE OF MOTION
November 9-20, 2016
SPIRAL, Tokyo
NSK Ltd. (one of the most prominent manufacturers of bearings globally and the largest in Japan) celebrated its 100th anniversary with a special exhibition, "SENSE OF MOTION", held at the Omotesando Spiral with the vision of "SETTING THE FUTURE IN MOTION". In order to convey the technology of NSK simply and beautifully, Emmanuelle presented a magnificent installation with the theme of "color mixing" to show the movement of colors using bearings.
Along the form of the spiral slope symbolizes the Spiral Garden, the flower motifs in 100 shades of colors has saturated the space of about 6 m in height. In the middle of the installation, circular empty space allows visitors to be surrounded by colors and immerse themselves in the colorful world.
The installation consists of 25200 flower motifs aligned in regular three dimensional grids. The flower motifs are attached to the vertical axes, which rotate by the NSK bearings and the windmills installed at the top that receive wind from the circulators run randomly by programming. The petals of flower motifs are composed of several colors, that produce new colors as they turn. From the slope, the layer of colors gradually changes, to let visitors to enjoy the installation with various gazes.
The same flower motifs spread like a garden as a scenographic element of the venue, to accentuate the sense of unity throughout the whole exhibition. By using bearings also for the axes of the flowers, visitors can extend their hands and turn the stalk to feel the spinning of the bearings through color mixing.
Each one is a small and simple movement. When condensing the simple movements in a single space and overlap with colors, it becomes a mind-blowing installation that releases large energy.

A rainbow-like stack of 12 colored layers, peeking out from the facade to welcome visitors. Upon entering the building, three elliptical skylights bathe the interior in a soft light. Visitors spontaneously look up to see a cut-out piece of the sky that invites them to gaze languidly at it. The open sky and sensation of openness prompts you to take deep breaths, refreshing your body from within. The ceiling is adorned with dandelion puff motifs that seem to float and drift through the air. Three long glass airwells thread through the first and second levels of the building, flooding the interior with natural light as well as "blowing" air through it.

Galerie nationale du Jeu de Paume
Paris
During the Paris Fashion Week 2018 held in September, UNIQLO launched a special exhibition "The Art and Science of LifeWear : Creating a New Standard in Knitwear" at the Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume. The exhibition marked the brand’s first large-scale exhibition open to the public. It introduced UNIQLO's knitwear in five zones "Art", "Science", "Craftsmanship", "Fashion", "Collaboration".
This time in the "Art" zone, Emmanuelle created an art installation named "KNIT IN 100 COLORS". She created an infinite world of colors where visitors can experience the vibrant color palette of UNIQLO knit at a glance.
The colorful world welcomed visitors as they entered the first room of the exhibition. Installation "KNIT IN 100 COLORS" focused on the concept of "making infinite colors by mixing colors". When looking at a knit garment, it appears to be a single color, but as you approach it and observe closely, one will notice the "color" is created by mixing fibers of several colors. Emmanuelle focused on this unseen process of mixing colors to create yarns. The installation was made with 100 different colors of wool yarns, which were then used to create approximately 10,000 modules that consisted of 3 colors. The installation is placed diagonally in the room so the world of 100 colors instantly gets in the eyes. The tunnel in the center let visitors to immerse themselves inside the colors. The installation changes colors from yellow, pink, brown, green, blue to purple, and a delicate gradation is formed by the blends of mixing colors.
Approximately 6,000 people visited the exhibition over five days. Many people would have experienced the world of colors, felt infinite colors throughout the body.

IMABARI COLOR SHOW
December 7-10, 2017
SPIRAL, Tokyo
February 2-12, 2018
Port Community Center, Imabari
Imabari City in Ehime Prefecture is famous for its high quality towel production. The land is blessed with good quality water, which has lead to an accumulation of excellent dyeing techniques. For the "IMABARI Color Show" introducing the dyeing technology in Imabari City, Emmanuelle revealed an installation "1000 COLORS RECIPE", using her own 1000 (one thousand) colors palette specially created for this installation, the most number of colors she has ever used in her works. The installation visually conveys Imabari's dyeing technology and a new world of colors that no one has ever seen.
The concept of this installation is "1000 COLORS RECIPE". It is a visualization of the delicate and accurate "recipes" required for dyeing. The elements that make up the recipe are the percentage of three principles of COLOR "C (blue) / M (red) / Y (yellow)",
TEMPERATURE "°C", TIME "minute / second", and VALUES composed of numerical figures "0" to "9".
By precisely managing all of these elements, colors delicately different to each others are created.
These 17 types of symbols that make up the recipe were dyed in 1000 different colors, and they were cut out in the shape of symbols, connected with thread, and then suspended at the center of the atrium of the Spiral Garden (SPIRAL, Tokyo).
1000 colors are condensed to form a circle at the center, one color for one thread, and the un-dyed white symbols wrap the outer circumference emphasize the existence of 1000 colors. The total number of symbols used is about 17000. Symbols are arranged in three dimensional grid, while they may be seen floating aligned or chaotic depending on the viewing position. When sitting under the symbol, you will see various recipes as you drown in colors.
"1000 COLORS RECIPE" was created by the fusion of Emmanuelle's colors with high quality skills of Imabari's dyeing technicians. The technique of "dyeing" and the creation of "1000 colors", multiplied by the delicacy of both have became a grand installation.

Omotesando Hills
Tokyo
Omotesando Hills, a shopping complex in central Tokyo, has entered a new stage in its 11th year, with an aspiration to create and transmit "culture". To materialize this vision, Omotesando Hills has collaborated with Emmanuelle to bring fusion of Illumination and "Art" into the mall for the Christmas season. Emmanuelle’s first illumination has become a fantastical space filled with gentle and warm lights created by her 100 colors.
The illumination "Christmas Forest in 100 colors" was inspired from the scenery of layers of trees lining up along the main boulevard in Omotesando, in which this scenery was recaptured into the void of the large stairway of Omotesando Hills. 1500 mini trees in 100 different colors filled the whole void in 13.4m high, and the "Forest of Colors" spread overwhelmingly. Each mini tree wrap the light bulb in colored papers, like a lantern, to make 100 colors themselves to emit a soft and gentle light.
Inside this colorful forest, the main tree is located at the center of the large stairway with a height of 7m, which is formed by a collection of mini trees that light up in white during the open hours.
From each level, different views of the illumination are captured, to encourage visitors to walk up and down the slope naturally to make the most of the main characteristic of this building, the slope. Santa Claus and reindeers that appears inside the main tree are hidden in the forest, add playfulness to the illumination for the visitors to search around.
At the special show "Emotional Reflection" held every 30 minutes, the main tree changes its colors from white, yellow, pink, green, blue and to rainbow, with other mini trees lighting up rhythmically with the music specially composed for this occasion.
Colors, music, and light resonate and respond to each others, inviting visitors into the warm and magical Christmas.

ATMs and teller windows are located on the first floor, along with 3 courtyards and an open space. The second storey houses the loan section, reception rooms, offices and 4 courtyards, while the third floor is reserved for facilities for staff use. Thanks to the 7 light-filled courtyards, each of these spaces is loosely connected to all the others. A constellation of leaves in 24 different colors growing on the white branches of the walls and glass windows overlaps with the natural foliage of the real trees in the courtyards, creating the sensation of being in a magical forest.

Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art & Design
Toyama (Japan)
As the world's first museum bringing Art and Design together, Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art & Design has opened in August, 2017 in Toyama, Japan. The opening ceremony exhibition Part 2 "Art and Design, dialogue with materials" was held to introduce different characteristics and attractiveness of materials such as wood, metal and new forefront materials, shaped into various forms by artists and designers. In this exhibition, Emmanuelle has worked with paper to show the beauty and possibility of paper as a material.
The sensory element "color", and the mathematical element "time". The installation "COLOR OF TIME" superimposes these two elements, to visualize and make one feel the flow of time. The first day of the exhibition, the sky of Toyama City on November 16, 2017. From the sunrise at 06:30, the color transitions through a total of 799 minutes, passing 18:11 astronomical twilight to 19:49, when the color disappears into blackness. This flow of time is perceived through the transitional journey through 100 shades of colors.
The space was composed by total of approximately 120,000 numeral figures from "0" to "9", and a symbol ":", regularly aligned in three dimensional grids. Although these figures seem like a dense volume, it expresses the flow of "time" in every minute. The installation is composed of 100 layers, and in each layer the time flows from left to right, then into the depth of the installation. The top front layer starts from sunrise at 06:30 with pale colors, then their colors gradually become darker as time flows. At the end, the installation is completed by the time of darkness, 19:49, in a color that is first time for Emmanuelle’s works to use in her installations – black.
Lead by the path that is cut through the installation in the middle, "Miss Blanche" designed by Shiro Kuramata is positioned. "Miss Blanche" is placed by the deputy director of Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art & Design, who is also curator of the exhibition, to create the axis to express a deep respect and admiration from Emmanuelle to Shiro Kuramata. Through the tunnel, the sky is tinted with a beautiful gradation changing from pale to deep colors, flowing from time to time. The installation makes one feel the subtle changes in atmosphere through the whole body, by travelling the colorful flow of time.
TRANS ARTS TOKYO 2016

Awaji Park
Tokyo
In autumn 2016, as part of TRANS ARTS TOKYO 2016, Emmanuelle revealed a new "100 colors" installation in Awaji Park in Tokyo, transformed the stairs into a colorful passage.
Approaching towards the entrance of the park, the colors drawing a gentle curve appeared through the gaps of trees. As one walked up the stairs, the shades of 100 colors suddenly appeared in sight. The colors changed every step after step, transformed the usual passage overflowed with colors and surprises.
I also wish to share the feeling of being surrounded by overflowing colors by
exhibiting 100 colors, here in the middle of Tokyo.
Please come and find your favorite color. "

“hiragana” is the simplest written character children first learn out of the three written sets in Japanese. In total, there are 46 hiraganas.
The Tree of Hiragana Nursery School, having occupancy of 60 students, is located near the foot of the Tokyo Sky Tree. Emmanuelle, responsible for the design of the façade and the interior, calls the school “Tree of Hiragana kindergarten”. The idea is to have the children engage with the hiraganas and the colors to make the school an ever growing environment.
On the façade, there are 46 different colors corresponding with the 46 different hiraganas scattered in reach of the children. The randomly placed hiraganas float to create a form of a tree. The sun casts a shadow onto the hiraganas, allowing the characteristics of the atmosphere to change throughout the day. In the first floor of the nursery school, there is a three dimensional tree which spans across the whole floor. On the second floor, the hiraganas are suspended on a mobile structure to add movement. The idea is to show the flow of the hiragana from the first to the second floor. The stairs of the nursery school is lined with the hiragana chart, so children can play and follow the chart on their way to the next floor.
The first sight of the Tokyo cityscape Emmanuelle saw was filled with the Japanese characters and appeared as a beautiful picture. For the children who are too young to read, it must be a magical moment to see these colorful hiraganas float above their heads. This school was designed in hope that the children will enjoy this moment in life where the hiraganas share the cityscape with Tokyo and grow up in a wonderful childhood.
"Space in Ginza"

METoA Ginza
Tokyo
For the Exhibition "Space in Ginza" at METoA Ginza in Tokyu Plaza Ginza, Emmanuelle revealed an installation that uses centimeter-level measurement accuracy of the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) as a motif. The interactive installation gives form to the high precision technologies in a beautiful visual form.
From approximately 40,000km in space (32,000−40,000km), the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System is able to measure your position (on x, y, and z axes) to an accuracy of centimeters. Having an orbit that travels directly above region of Japan, it is expected to improve the accuracy of GPS and car navigation system on a daily basis. Although the theme of the exhibition is “Universe”, the installation focuses strongly on bringing the perspective back to the Earth. Hence the installation employs 18000 woman's silhouettes in 100 shades of colors, which express the crowd of people in Ginza. Almost drowning inside the crowd, three silhouettes (two girls and a cat) are lost inside, which encourage visitors to search and spot them within.
The assemblage of prismatic silhouettes of woman. It is an expression of non-stopping crowded street in Tokyo. One can get drown in the same repeated days, becoming one of the people on the street. Just like looking for the "lost" silhouettes in the crowd, the installation is a reminder to rethink where you belong.
WOOD FURNITURE JAPAN AWARD 2016
March 4-5, 2016
SPIRAL, Tokyo
January 20-21, 2016
No.9 RIVE GAUCHE, Paris
concept : bunshi (ramification)
Paris to Tokyo - the exhibition "WOOD FURNITURE JAPAN AWARD 2016" has returned to Tokyo, after a successful launch in Paris in January. Emmanuelle has designed the space for both venues based on a concept of bunshi (meaning "ramification" in Japanese), which means to divide or spread out into branches, extend into subdivisions. The exhibition is held at SPIRAL, a nexus of cultural life in Omotesando, Tokyo.
The collections of colorful small branches diverge and multiply, filled up the volume of an empty hall. Each module is a metaphoric expression of the phenomenon of ramification, which symbolizes the encounters between designers and artisans as their paths intersect and diverge with valuable experiences, leading them to a new path.
The installation consists of 20,000 pieces of small branches (bunshi) in 100 shades of colors, appear randomly placed, but in fact perfectly aligned in three dimensional grids. A portion of volume is removed, creating a tunnel-like path, where selected wood furniture is placed along the edge of the curved path. The color of atmosphere gradually changes as one walk through the tunnel.
At the entrance, installation of characters of 58 Japanese tree species welcome visitors, with a total of 100 letters in 100 shades of colors.
Grand, yet intricate.
Chaotic, yet in harmony.
The installation gives an experience of being in a forest, wondering among the world of colorful branches.

for Tokyo Nishikawa
In collaboration with the leading bedding manufacturer of Japan – Tokyo Nishikawa, which celebrated its 450 anniversary this year, Emmanuelle developed a new colorful bedding brand "yurariro".
Under the joint development with the famous production area of towel products in Japan - Imabari, Emmanuelle designed six types of next-generation summer blankets, focusing on colors and comfort (Summer blankets (resemble a large towel) are popular items in Japan, simply because they are light weight and washable.).
Along with the design quality, some concerns from users such as "difficult to dry after wash" and "piles falling out", were solved one by one by through knowledge and skills of artisans, improving the overall performance.
In addition to summer blankets, 4 variations of light "futon"(bedding) were also designed and manufactured in Japan.
With the concept "Touch colors in peace, see colors in joy. Wrapped in dancing colors, sleep comfortably in a colorful dream.", the new brand wishes to provide a comfortable and colorful sleep for spring and summer.

Tokyo
concept : rainbow shower
The site is located in a commercial district with many stores. The site's closeness to the town's activities - also the heavy traffic and narrow sidewalk - inspired Emmanuelle to express this proximity in the building by merging the exterior and interior.
The building is offset approximately 2 meters from the property line, and the timber-decked peripheral space is filled with colorful 9 meter-tall sticks. These 29 exterior sticks, reflected on the transparent glazed facade, mix naturally with the 19 interior sticks placed randomly inside the building. This rainbow shower returns colors and some room for playfulness back to the town. Entering the building, the visitors would notice that they are still in an exterior courtyard leading to the bank's interior. Here also, the inside and outside are integrated. Walking around the glazed courtyard inside, there is a cafe-like open space filled with natural light. The bamboos in the courtyard extend skyward in concert with the colorful sticks.
The exterior deck space, interior open space, exterior courtyard, and the interior teller counters compose four layers of spaces. The layers are reflected on the glazing, and, combined with complex shadows, they create depth in the space.

Italian Premium Lifestyle Brand FURLA held a presentation of the 2016 Spring Summer collection at Zojoji Temple in Tokyo, where Emmanuelle designed the venue with an installation to give colors to the new collection.
The exhibition was held at the outdoor piloti area, as compared to the last exhibition held inside Zojoji Koshoden. As the guests come through the dark reception area, they are welcomed by a spring blooming world. The installation named "hanami" symbolizes the piloti columns as tree trunks, and created trees with blooming flowers with densely gathered sliced papers in 100 shades of colors.
The light filters through the thin papers, giving an impression of natural light filtering through flowers and leaves in the forest. The colorful trees standing dignified, it is almost like arriving to one corner of the park. The geometric design and bold coloration of the new collection are displayed in concert with the colors of the flowers. Display shelves are placed on every tree trunks, for guests to enjoy the new collection under the blooming flowers. Along with the bright fresh installation and the new collection, it became the venue to feel the coming of spring and summer season.

In 2020, the Mass Rapid Transit "Circular Line" will open in New Taipei City. Drawing a large circle, Circular Line will connect the existing lines that spread in radial direction from the City Central. Circular Line is a groundbreaking scheme that will dramatically improve the transport system, where the Taipei City Department of Rapid Transit Systems (DORTS) is responsible for the project and its construction. They plan to have the transportation facility, the Circular Line, as a work of public art piece, for the very first time in the world. In 2011, Emmanuelle has been invited directly from DORTS, as an artist recognized for her use of colors, to engage in the design of this grand scale public art project.
Circular Line is a subway system, total length of 34.8 kilometers, in which its 14.5 kilometers are above ground facilities. The project focuses on this 14.5 kilometers zone, where there is a close relationship with the people in the city. Emmanuelle’s color palette will spread across a wide area, which comprises 8 kilometers of steel beams, 10 kilometers of acoustic barriers, around 200 steel pillars underneath the station and viaducts, 13 stations, 13 platforms, a bridge, and the exterior and interior design of the four cars MRT train. Until the opening in 2019, color workshops will be held by Emmanuelle mainly for residents and teachers in New Taipei City, together with other art events.
The concept "shine" was inspired from the theme for the Circular Line project stated by DORTS, 'Like clouds swift passage, the dragon travels thousands miles', and the color scheme of the line, which is "yellow". The "yellow" gave an image of bright sunshine that was the inspiration to the word "shine", expressing the sunshine being reflected off the scales of dragon. "Shine" wishes that the brightness will spread along the whole Circular Line as the swiftly moving dragon reflects sunshine off its scales, through the bustling City of Taipei.
Building upon this concept, the characteristic of the project is the 5 shades of yellow selected by Emmanuelle, being the base color scheme for the city’s public art. As a surprise gift from her, there is just one location unveiling all colors from her rainbow color palette.
The project is still ongoing, and Emmanuelle wishes that this grand scheme of public art project will give brightness and harmony to the lifestyle of Taipei citizen.

Wearing 100 colors – it is an experimental approach to experience the sensation of color. The elegant silhouette of mino brings a refreshing breeze to the city.
“Mino” is a traditional Japanese straw rain-cape, made by bundles of weaved straw strands, having multiple layers to provide protection and warmth from the harsh climate. “Layers” as an inspiration, Emmanuelle has employed long and thin delicate strands of papers in 100 shades of colors to create mino in two different forms. The presence of mino gives colors in the scene, as the surface strands gently lift up in the air. Colors are layered precisely in unique order, having 30 layers in every bundle. With motion, colors sitting behind are unveiled as the surface layers gently float up in the air, revealing 100 colors instantaneously. Women’s mino uses 3450 strands of colored papers each sliced into 5mm wide to express softness and daintiness through the graceful movement. Men’s mino employs 1140 strands of 20mm wide papers assembled together to express the sense of oneness and boldness within the delicate texture of papers. Shoulder bag uses 5mm wide strands that flutter gently in the wind, faintly showing 100 colors.
Wearing mino, the colorful and airy lines flow pleasantly, leaving traces of colorful wind in our ordinary cityscape.

It is a designated facility providing nursing care services for the elderly. Refurbishment took place in the lounge area and cafeteria, where these spaces are intended to bring family together and creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
In the lounge area, colorful bubbles are dancing in the air above chairs and sofas colored in shades of green, which give image of green grass and soap bubbles floating in the park on sunny days. These bubbles are in the form of 45 mobiles consisting of 225 spheres in 15 colors creating gentle circular motion in the air. The lounge connects to the cafeteria, weaving workshop, and other spaces, inviting visitors around. The colorful mobiles are visible from the cafeteria through the floor to ceiling height white box shelves, which also divide these spaces. Although being inside, the visitors are able to feel the essence of nature, such as the green, the sky, and the moving wind, being absorbed in the gently dancing bubbles forgetting all about the time. Invited by the colorful dancing bubbles, facility users and their families naturally come together, read books, drink coffee, and spend their own time in their own ways in this friendly and comfortable environment.
Shinjuku Creators Festa 2014
Tokyo
As a first outdoor installation, Emmanuelle has transformed the space in Shinjuku Central Park in Tokyo using full spectrum of floating colors. Having high rise buildings in the background, the 100 colored strands dance in the breeze, as if they are breathing in and out, creating a dynamic motion. This is the 2nd exhibition of the '100 colors' series, which she plans to exhibit in different cities around the world.
In 2013, the first '100 colors' installed specially selected papers to create a floating volume of colors. For this year, textile was chosen as a medium to catch the breeze seaming through the skyscrapers of Shinjuku. The dye compounds were carefully blended to create the unique 100 colors formula, and 1875 strands of textile were hand-dyed one by one. 100 colors are floating and swaying in the wind, coloring the breeze travelling in the city, casting gentle shadows in the summer days of Tokyo. Colors are layered with the high rise buildings, creating an extraordinary scene, attracting eyes of people walking by. Floating colors in the sky of Shinjuku is a breathtaking installation that has given people a little moment to stop by, away from the busy reality.
2014 August - October
Global art installation in Tokyo, New York, San Francisco, Shanghai, Berlin, London and Paris
concept : thin thin thin
2014 fall - emmanuelle has created an installation for the launch of UNIQLO's autumn item, "extra fine merino". Beginning from Ginza flagship store then to other global flagship stores, such as Fifth Avenue NY, 311 Oxford Street London, and Paris Opera, it is a simultaneous global art installation in 6 countries to celebrate the beginning of autumn season.
Thin and long colorful threads, representing strands of merino yarn are made into three dimensional volumes that intersect inside the windows with mannequins positioned in between. The installation has started at Ginza flagship store, on the facade and the glass case. Inside the store, the main glass case uses 2,420 threads in 60 shades of colors to create volumes, radiating from the floor to the ceiling. The long thin lines cross and intersect three dimensionally, and the expressions of layered threads change as the view keep shifting. On the facade is a graphic interpretation of the thin merino yarn layered with white graphic lines on the front glass, intended to give depth to the window.

concept : colorful wind
2014 spring - emmanuelle has created an installation for the launch of UNIQLO's spring item, "LINEN". Linen's breathable and cool feelings, its soft and supple texture, were expressed in the installation as the colorful and refreshing spring breeze.
The paper strands in 100 shades of colors are floating and swaying above the mannequins, giving the feel of standing in the spring breeze. The gentle swaying motion of the floating volume of colors is expressing the beginning of new season on the colorful wind.
Beginning from Ginza flagship store then to other flagship stores, like Fifth Avenue NY and 311 Oxford Street London, it is a simultaneous 26 global cities art installation in 8 countries (51 stores).
The installation started at Ginza flagship store, Tokyo on its facade and the glass case. The main glass case uses approximately 2,400 strands of 4.7m long colored paper in 100 shades. For the facade, 100 shades of square paper fill up the 7m high board, where colors seem to float up into the air.

Palazzo Bembo
Venice (Italy)
The exhibition will take place in Palazzo Bembo, the historical Venetian Palazzo, standing along the canal in Venice.
The theme of the Biennale, "Fundamentals", has given opportunities to revisit and rethink the elements in architecture. For this occasion, emmanuelle has decided to re-focus on the importance of her design concept of shikiri, by extracting and representing its essence. Shikiri has been adopted its shape and function according to different time and places for every projects designed in the past. Shikiri has evolved overtime. The concept started from surface shikiri elements, and now has developed to line and point elements. The exhibition highlights the surface and line shikiri, focusing from the architectural approaches and perspectives. Shikiri essence will be represented in the form of models, which are in various scales and suspended in various heights in the room. 1,390 surfaces and 12,100 lines are colored in 36 shades of multicolor palettes. While they symbolize structures, they are also the elements composing space through colors. The exhibit let visitors to experience space with three dimensional layering of colors.
AMBIENTE 2014
Frankfurt (Germany)
As part of the "manufacture x designer" project organized by the general incorporated association Japan Creative, "awa", which means "foam" in Japanese, was unveiled at Ambiente 2014, held in Frankfurt, Germany. The "awa" was created through collaboration with SANYO, which processes and sells synthetic resins products, including soft PVC.
Emmanuelle saw the faint transparency and the soft gesture of PVC as "foam" that gently wraps air and slowly changes shape with calm movement, which she developed into a motif for the new design.
To express the delicate appearance of the foam, Emmanuelle focused on the beauty of the cross sectional view of 0.15mm thick soft PVC, rather than the surface that is normally shown in general use. The PVC is cut into 10mm wide tape, forming a module with a series of pentagonal foam patterns. The total of 182 modules in 14 shades of colors are assembled and woven together, which float in the space. The foam modules float in the air like the soap bubbles shinning in rainbow colors, creating beautiful scenery as the foam gently moves and colors overlap. The unprecedented expression of faint and subtle spatial element has brought out the fundamental appeal and new possibility of soft PVC.
ANY TOKYO 2013
Coca-Cola has updated its classic icon - the Heritage Glass - the modern interpretation of a Coca-Cola glass, designed by innovative designer Thomas Meyerhoffer. After the new release at Colette, the famous boutique in Paris, Coca-Cola has released its new icon in Tokyo, together with an art installation by Emmanuelle Moureaux.
The installation "sparkling bubbles" uses 800 acrylic transparent spheres bringing the experience of the bubbles and sparkles of freshly poured Coca-cola. Small air bubbles are locked inside in each sphere, which appears as if the bubbles are floating in the air.
These spheres are dyed in delicate shades of 34 different colors chosen specially for this installation.
The reflection of lights and the layers of colors create a spellbinding moment, capturing the magic of the drink. The installation changes its expression seeing from different angles, which is the interpretation of the personal emotions from drinking Coca-Cola.
Shinjuku Creators Festa 2013
Tokyo
As part of Shinjuku Creators Festa 2013, run by Shinjuku City council, Emmanuelle has created a space using full spectrum of colors.
I also wish to share the feeling of being surrounded by overflowing colors by
exhibiting 100 colors, here in the middle of Tokyo.
Please come and find your favorite color. "

Wallpaper* Handmade
Milan (Italy)
manufacturer : schönbuch
Imagined as thin layers of coloured sheets scattered in the air, then settling randomly on top of each other, creating overhangs and recessions, the "Mille-Feuille" storage series, designed by Emmanuelle, and created by German furniture manufacturer Schonbuch was revealed at the Wallpaper* Handmade Exhibition in Milan. Employing her signature use of colour, Emmanuelle draws inspiration from similar but larger-scale previous explorations, such as her Sugamo Shinkin Bank (Shimura Branch) project.
The colourful storage pieces are handmade out of layers of lacquered MDF and come in three sizes, 21 layers for a multicolor cabinet, 12 layers for a green-blue low cabinet and 8 layers for a yellow-pink bedside cabinet, all containing "hidden" drawers.
The function of the "Mille-Feuille" may change according to the numbers of layers and the concept can be developed for other functions as a low table or a shelf.

142 studios completed throughout Japan
ABC Cooking Studio operates more than 140 studios throughout Japan that offer a variety of cooking classes. In an effort to create a brightly lit, enjoyable cafe-like space that departs from conventional ideas of what a cooking studio ought to look like, eight colors were used for the facade, while pieces of furniture were scattered throughout the interior. The result is a playful space that conforms perfectly to ABC's philosophy of helping to create "smiles on faces at dining tables throughout the world". The interiors of these studios have successfully created an easily recognizable brand image that is immediately evident from the facade, winning much positive feedback.

The blue sky between buildings, the pockets of green in the park on the street corner, and the colorful glittering neon at night. These are what we capture during our everyday life in cities. Travelling also gives us different snapshot from our daily lives, such as the magenta and yellow spreading endlessly in the field of tulips, the pale blue from the crystal clear lake, and the pink petals of cherry blossoms swaying in the wind. These sceneries from our experience are captured into rectangular frame, and then rhythmically spread in the space to create a joyful and heartwarming store.
The captured pieces are modularized into blocks of 800mm x 160mm. These modules are then used to design displays, fixtures and mirrors.
Different heights of these rectangular blocks create rhythm in the space which gives a sense of playfulness. This changes the ordinary way of shop displays, which are often too systematic. The design has focused on flexibility, such as the movable display blocks, with the exception of wall mounted display, and the colors representing sceneries can be changed along with the seasons.

Kyoto (Japan)
concept : ito (thread)
Second and third floor spaces of the Clinical Research Center for Medical Equipment Development (CRCMeD) at Kyoto University Hospital. These two floors, occupied by Canon Inc. and Kyoto University, will become the future site for projects developed in collaboration between people lending their expertise to research initiatives and a great number of supporters. The thoughts of each of these people working in various fields will come together in this space, bringing together a convergence of knowledge and skills that will create new possibilities. The design expresses the invisible "threads" that connect each of these different thoughts to one another, just like how threads are spun together to create a strong, supple fabric. Specifically, ito (Japanese for "thread") is used as a motif that would bridge the second and third floors of this research center, designing a space that came together in a single, massive flow. Just like how new possibilities emerge out of encounters between people, a spectrum of different colors appear at the junctions between threads, creating chromatic combinations that resemble landscapes: field green, sky blue, light cherry pink, snow white, dusky orange, and white horizons.

Utsunomiya (Japan)
TBC is the largest group of colleges in the northern Kanto region. This project was a commission to design a new professional cooking school located in Utsunomiya. The concept was to create "spaces for learning that would excite and stimulate the five senses". Symbolic colors and hues associated with particular foods were extracted from this space for learning about food and cuisine, and incorporated into its design. Four thematic colors, each in five tones, were used on each floor of the building. The first floor was turned into a multi-colored space incorporating all the shades used on the second through fifth floors, transforming it into a lively and animated hub where students can go back and forth, as well as gather together. Colorful lobby chairs were placed in the first floor entrance hall, which constitutes the public face of the school. These chairs create a dynamic series of colored lines that seem to flow in a continuous stream from the reception area to the demonstration room. The gradations of similar hues and square motifs used on the interior walls give students the sensation of strolling through a series of light, nimble rhythms and colors.

Shinjuku Isetan & Nihombashi Mitsukoshi Department stores
Tokyo
Issey Miyake commissioned Emmanuelle to handle the set design and art direction for their event, Bloom Bloom Bloom.
Inspired by spring flowers in bloom and Issey Miyake's newest incarnation, this event was held in conjunction with the launch of Bloom Skin, Yoshiyuki Miyamae's first collection since joining the branch as their new designer. The event took place at both Isetan's Shinjuku branch and Mitsukoshi's flagship store in Nihonbashi.
These "stick flowers", with their straight lines and contours, were conceived as a contrast to the translucent designs of the soft, flowing pieces in this collection. Each measuring 1.4m across, these vibrant and colorful flowers were deployed as both three-dimensional sculptural pieces and two-dimensional graphic motifs, giving the overall impression of a stage "in bloom".
Stick Flower represents an extension of sticks, a series of display windows produced for Issey Miyake's three Aoyama outlets in 2010, as well as toge, an installation that was exhibited at DesignTide Tokyo in 2011.
For Bloom Bloom Bloom, Issey Miyake also commissioned us to design logos and outdoor signs for the department store. The Stick Flower motifs were also used in a series of limited edition T-shirts and package designs for accessories and products.

"Sharp-pointed thorns.
It is a manifestation of its aggressiveness that it will not let others come near,
And a manifestation of its own weakness.
Aggressiveness and Weakness
When wrapped around in the two conflicting senses,
I feel like reaching out and touch the pain in spite of myself."
Toge (Japanese for thorn) is a modular product. Each "thorn" gives the viewer the impression of a sharp and stiff object, but these modules can in fact be freely combined to create a soft, pliable and standalone space. At DESIGNTIDE TOKYO 2011, Emmanuelle arranged five hundred of these Toge modules in 15 different colors to form a wedding dress. This conceptual piece was an exercise in contradictory impressions and sensations - solid and stiff but soft and pliable, menacing yet gentle.

Stonebridge
Virginia (US)
Bluberi is a health-conscious frozen yoghurt brand founded in Washington, DC. As a result of the brand's expansion, we were commissioned to handle the design of the store's concept and the interior scheme of Bluberi's second shop, located in Stonebridge, Virginia.
In line with the basic "delicious, fun, and healthy" theme, we decided to project an image of the brand that would be memorable and far-reaching, in line with Blueberi's future expansion plans.
The interior of the shop features an image of a blueberry tree with its strong branches extending outwards, seemingly bursting with energy and laden with juicy blueberries in 13 colors- the fruit for which the store is named. We also selected lighting fixtures and furniture that called to mind the round, plump shape of the fruit, giving the whole interior a cohesive look.
In keeping with the image of a frozen yoghurt store that uses only non-fat, healthful ingredients, we made a special effort to select appropriate materials for the interior, opting for only translucent colors and Benjamin Moore paints that contain no harmful organic components, for instance.
Blueberry tree motifs were also used for the store's website, cards and other promotional materials, and the colors of the logos were changed according to the spatial design of certain areas. Collectively, these details helped to create a total brand image for our client.

Beauty shown by plants in the natural world. Spreads of trees, colors of flowers, flows of leaf veins, linkages of cells. Everything is in a systematic harmony.
In eda, forms are determined according to the natural system. eda is assemblages of fine lines. Each line exists straight, and large complexities contain small simplicities.
Biological forms overlap rhythmically, link air with another and create new space orders.
Eda, meaning "branch" in Japanese, is a modular product that combines (interlocking to each other / you link to each other) to create spaces. For its 1st presentation at DESIGNTIDE TOKYO 2010, emmanuelle designed an installation consisted of 2000 eda, suspending 900 colored one and creating a free-standing structure on the floor with 1100 white one.

with a new appearance.
Like flown away into space and floating there,
the sticks spread all around the space.
As if time stands still,
"a balance out of balance" is created.
The concept of sticks was inspired by a European children's game "MIKADO", which was often played before. The sticks randomly positioned as inspired by MIKADO create tensions and chance balances, which were designed to become tangible forms. It was designed to be structurally balanced in spite of its unbalanced appearance.

56 slender colored acrylic sticks, embedded randomly into a piece of transparent acrylic, create a beautiful landscape, reminiscent of a colorful shibafu or lawn. The sticks support a transparent acrylic panel, while refracting and reflecting light as if they were soaking under water. They appear and disappear, and even seem to bend at times. These beautiful illusions and colors create a low table with infinite expressions.

concept : unbalanced balance
Exhibited during the 100% Design Tokyo 2007 show to finally realize a long-thought of idea, the inspiration for "stick chair" came from "Mikado", a pick-up sticks game which originated in Europe. A total of 7 round wooden sticks (φ18) placed obliquely support the heavy piece of acrylic creating the perfect balance. The structural balance has been pushed to the limits and although it looks unbalanced, this architecture like structure was developed after many attempts to achieve an "unbalanced balance". Due to its beautiful refraction effects the sticks appear as if they are soaked underwater.
