The company is holding the "KAMOI 100TH ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION + SHOP" at 6 venues all over Japan. This is Emmanuelle’s second collaboration with mt and released her new installation in Kurashiki city which is the hometown of the KAMOI KAKOSHI Co.,LTD. In her first collaboration with mt (100 colors no.35) she used mt’s masking tape, made of traditional Japanese paper washi. The installation is made for the 10th mt FACTORY TOUR. This site-specific outdoor installation is also made with the same mt’s masking tape with her unique 100 colors.
This special outdoor artwork is held in Kurashiki Ivy Square. The venue for this exhibition is known as a cultural asset constituting a Japanese heritage site. The 100 colors blend this building with its long history. The masking tape turns out colorful scenes in the sky of Kurashiki city.
The installation is composed of 15 mm wide and 3 m long lines of masking tapes, regularly layered creating an immersive space in front of the building. Starts with white and continues 100 colors gradation that covers above the head, people can walk through under the colorful passage which reaches 24 m long. Approximately 26,000 thin lines welcome visitors to its colorful breeze, allowing them to feel as many colors as they walk into the building. When colorful strands swing by the wind, every small movement delivers emotions.
100 colors no.46 is part of Emmanuelle’s "100 colors" installation series.
